Also, the acoustics were so good that when the king/emperor/chief/grand poubaa stood up and spoke everybody could hear him clearly. Common sense says that the game was prolly played a bit differently than during the classical era. Now somebody explain to me how, using only your elbows, knees and hips, one is supposed to knock a ball through that hoop. Remember how I said to take notice of the slanted ball courts of the Coba ruins? Well here's what the ball court at Chichen Itza looks like. It was so cool and unreal to see the Mayan ruins that I read about in Grade 6 (remember those ancient civilisation projects?).Ĭhichen Itza was built during the post-classical era and Coba was built during the classical era.

Another way I measured just how great my trip was.it made me completely forget about my tv schedule which at the time included the olympics and Grey's Anatomy (which if you don't already watch it, you should -trust me). I think this season will be fun to watch if they're on it. It was a walking tour which led us to the 3rd part of the show which exhibited the different music (mariachi band!) and dances of the various regions of Mexico.įor all you Amazing Race fans out there, aren't BJ and Tyler just the best team?! They're so fun and positive! Gotta love the "hippies". The 2nd part was a display of traditional Mayan garb. I keep saying how hard the game must be, but these guys proved that this game is actually playable! The first part was a demonstration of that crazy Mayan game. So in place of that, they split up the show into 3 parts. The show was supposed to take place in a large theatre which was supposed to host the 2005 MTV latin music awards until the hurricane happened. We got there a bit early so we took the river cruise ride just before the show. I'm convinced I will always be stuck with my french-immersionized accent.Īnyways, we bought tickets to a show at Xcaret - a large theme park.
I thought I was doing pretty good until some guy said I had a "cute Canadian accent." Darn it. A lot of the Canadians were from Quebec and so I got to practice my french quite a bit.

Our resort was mainly full of Canadians and some Italians. It wasn't so bad gave us a chance to discover some new magazines (who would have thought that GQ was such a great mag?!) and to meet some other people at our resort. Not just droplets either! We resorted to hanging out in the big palapa near the beach. Thursday.the only day where it rained on one of our precious beach days.
